Dr. Gigi Girard was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Louisville in 1994 with a bachelors of arts in chemistry and a minor in French.  She then attended the University of Western Australia studying courses in a Masters of Public Health program.   Dr. Girard has dual citizenship, being both an American and an Australian citizen.  Her mother and her sister live in Perth, Western Australia, which is her mother's hometown. 

Dr. Girard also spent time working in Aboriginal medical clinics in Western Australia before applying to medical school.  She graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 2000.

"My residency training in obstetrics and gynecology took place at Exempla St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado.  I am excited to be home practicing obstetrics and gynecology now in Louisville." 

Dr. Girard is married to Sherman Buschemeyer.  They recently welcomed their baby girl, Gabrielle, to the family.
